Summary of Research

Establishment of in vitro canine keratinocyte cultures which will be employed to study keratinocyte-bacteria and keratinocyte-allergen interactions and more specifically: (i) the adherence of S. psuedintermedius to canine keratinocytes and (ii) whether S. psuedintermedius induces upregulated keratinocyte expression of TLRs (iii) the influence of Der p 18 on TLR expression and cytokine production by keratinocytes and (iv) the downstream effect of altered keratinocyte activity on mononuclear activity especially antigen presentation.
