Genetics and Genomics

Technologies

In collaboration with others this research group has developed biological (BAC, cDNA libraries; mapping pedigrees) and bioinformatics resources to enable genetics and genomics research in farm animals, especially pigs.

Professor Archibald is also co-leader of the ARK-Genomics Centre for Comparative and Functional Genomics. ARK-Genomics was established with funding from the BBSRC’s Investigating Gene Function initiative to deliver resources and technology platforms for genome analysis in farm and other animal species. The technology platforms include expression profiling using array technology, genotyping (microsatellites and SNPs) customised for the target species. Clone resources such as cDNA and BAC libraries as cited above are also available.
