Kickstart Summer School

Kickstart is a free to attend week-long "summer school" designed to provide 16-17 year olds with a "taster" of studying at University.

The aim is to give a 'real' experience and a deeper insight into some subject areas offered in Higher Education. In 2009, a group of Roslin Institute and Scottish Agricultural College scientists from students to department heads provided a half-day workshop for the Health, Science & Technology element of Kickstart. The workshop covered meat production, bioinformatics and animal behaviour with hands on tasks to illustrate the subjects.

Presented jointly by University of Edinburgh, Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh Napier University, and Scottish Agricultural College, Kickstart is funded by East Lothian, Midlothian and West Lothian Councils.
